WOMEN'S SOCCER KICKS OFF CAA FALL SPORTS SEASON THIS WEEKEND

The fall sports season in the CAA kicks off this weekend with 10 of the conference’s 12 women’s soccer teams in action.

Four squads open up on Friday night as defending CAA champion UNC Wilmington hosts 10th-ranked Wake Forest, preseason league favorite James Madison travels to Richmond, William & Mary entertains Big East foe Syracuse and VCU welcomes in-state opponent Longwood. All four contests will start at 7 p.m.

On Saturday night, Towson makes the short trip to long-time rival Loyola (Md.) to open its 2010 campaign.

Six games are on the slate for Sunday afternoon, highlighted by Northeastern hosting 12th-ranked South Carolina. Old Dominion entertains Syracuse, Drexel is at home against UMBC, Georgia State visits Jacksonville State, UNCW is at Davidson and Delaware goes to in-state rival Delaware State.


Field hockey and volleyball season in the CAA gets underway on Friday, August 27, men’s soccer kicks off on September 1, football opens on September 2 and cross country begins on September 3.
