2008 CAA WOMEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW 5/1/2008 4:00:00 AM No. 1 seed William & Mary will host the 2008 CAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. No. 2 George Mason, No. 3 Towson and No. 4 Delaware complete the four-team field for the championship. The semifinals get underway on Friday with No. 1 William & Mary taking on No. 4 Delaware at 5:00 p.m. No. 2 George Mason will face No. 3 Towson at 7:30 p.m. The championship game will be on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.William & Mary defeated Delaware during the regular season, 17-13. Grace Golden and Jaime Sellers each scored four goals for the Tribe and Julia Martin added two goals and three assists. Delaware was led by Katie Muth who notched two goals and two assists. William & Mary leads the all-time series 8-5. The teams have never met in the championship.William & Mary is led by senior Jaime Sellers who scored a league-leading 60 goals during the regular season. Freshman Grace Golden has 42 goals and eight assists. Freshman goalkeeper Emily Geary has posted a .487 save percentage, second-best in the conference.Delaware is led by Emily Schaknowski with 52 points on 29 goals and 23 assists. Casey McCrudden had 39 goals, tops on the team. Jessica Cerveny has been stellar in goal all season for the Blue Hens, allowing only 10.62 goals per game.George Mason defeated Towson, 13-10, during the regular season. The Patriots hold a slim 7-6 advantage in the all-time series. Towson won the last championship match-up between these two teams during the 2005 championship semifinals. In 2005, the #2 Tigers defeated the #3 Patriots, 12-9 en route to winning their only CAA Women's Lacrosse Championship.Mason's Laura King leads the team with 40 goals, 14 assists and 54 points. Brittany Berger is not far behind, scoring 39 goals and adding 10 assists. Megan Bartlett is third on the team with 26 goals.Towson is led by Hillary Fratzke, who has posted a league-high 75 points on 52 goals and 23 assists. The junior also leads the league in draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers. Britt Woodfield and Nikki Marcinik both have 33 points, good for second on the team.All games will be held at Albert-Daly Field in Williamsburg, Va.
